Founded in 1492 in the year of Cristóbal Colón's discovery of America for the Europeans, La Habana is the capital of Cuba. It is located in the westerly part of Cuba at the north coast. With almost 3 million inhabitants, La Habana is Cuba's largest city.
La Habana's Fortresses
The four fortresses essentially guard the narrow entrance to La Habana's harbor. Castillo Morro and Castillo Cabaña are on the eastern side, while Castillo Punta and Castillo Fuerza are on the western side. |
